SCOPE: Neuro IR
Surgical Competency & Operative Performance Evaluation
A comprehensive mobile application designed for neurointerventional radiology fellowship programs to facilitate structured evaluation of fellows and residents using evidence-based assessment frameworks.
About SCOPE: Neuro IR
SCOPE: Neuro IR is a specialized mobile application developed specifically for neurointerventional radiology fellowship programs. The app enables structured evaluation of fellows and residents performing endovascular procedures using two complementary assessment frameworks: the Modified Zwisch Scale and STARS (Surgical Technique Assessment and Rating System).
Designed for fellows, residents, attending physicians, and program directors, SCOPE: Neuro IR streamlines the evaluation process for complex endovascular procedures, tracks competency progression in interventional techniques, and provides comprehensive analytics to support excellence in neurointerventional training.
Key Features
Case Management
Submit and track endovascular cases with comprehensive details including procedure type, access route, devices used, and patient outcomes.
Dual Evaluation System
Comprehensive assessment using both the Modified Zwisch Scale and STARS framework for thorough performance evaluation.
Self & Faculty Evaluations
Support for both fellow/resident self-evaluations and attending interventionalist evaluations to provide comprehensive feedback.
Performance Analytics
Track progress over time with detailed reports, competency metrics, and quarterly performance analysis.
Audio Notes
Record and attach audio notes to evaluations for detailed feedback and teaching moments.
16 Neurointerventional Procedures
Comprehensive library covering diagnostic angiography, stroke thrombectomy, aneurysm treatment, stenting, embolization, and spinal procedures across 9 categories.
Evaluation Frameworks
Modified Zwisch Scale
The Modified Zwisch Scale provides a structured approach to evaluating surgical competency across six levels:
- Not Observed - The resident was not observed performing this subtask
- Assistant - The resident assisted but did not perform independently
- Continuous Guidance - Performed with continuous guidance from attending
- Intermittent Guidance - Performed with intermittent guidance
- Independent - Performed independently without guidance
- Teaching Level - Performed at a level where they could teach others
STARS Framework
The Surgical Technique Assessment and Rating System evaluates eight key domains of surgical performance:
- Overall Performance
- Knowledge of Protocol
- Knowledge of Procedure
- Knowledge of Anatomy
- Tissue/Instrument Handling
- Efficiency
- Composure/Adaptability
- Communication
Who Can Use SCOPE: Neuro IR?
Fellows & Residents
Submit endovascular cases, perform self-evaluations, track your progress across multiple procedure types, and view detailed reports on your competency development throughout your fellowship or residency. Monitor your progression in diagnostic angiography, stroke interventions, aneurysm treatment, stenting, and embolization procedures.
Attending Interventionalists
Evaluate fellow and resident performance during endovascular procedures, provide structured feedback on technique and decision-making, and monitor the progress of trainees under your supervision using evidence-based assessment tools tailored for neurointerventional procedures.
Program Directors
Access comprehensive analytics for fellowship and residency programs, manage users, view system-wide statistics, track ACGME case requirements, and ensure program compliance with neurointerventional training standards.
Academic Year Tracking
SCOPE: Neuro IR automatically tracks cases and evaluations by academic year (July 1 - June 30), allowing for accurate progress monitoring and competency assessment throughout the fellowship training cycle. PGY year progression is tracked to provide longitudinal performance analysis and ensure ACGME case requirements are met.
Security & Privacy
SCOPE is built with security and privacy as top priorities. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Patient information is de-identified, and the app follows best practices for medical data handling. For detailed information, please review our Privacy Policy.
